Attendance at the CHPA's Meth Watch Leadership Training Session surpassed expectations.

Consumer Healthcare Products Association’s (CHPA) was pleased to host the “Meth Watch” Leadership Training Seminar, held at the Fairmont Hotel in Washington, D.C., July 8 and 9, 2004. Public officials from 20 states where there is a growing methamphetamine problem – such as Iowa, Georgia, Minnesota, North Carolina, Tennessee and Missouri – travelled to Washington, D.C., to learn how to implement the Meth Watch program in their own states. Participants included individuals from state law enforcement divisions, attorney generals offices, and state governors’ offices.

Kansas trainers (from left: TJ Ciaffone; Laurie Harrison; Sheriff Steve Bundy; Cristi Cain; and Sheriff Currie Myers) fielded questions and offered insight on their experiences with the Meth Watch program.

The uniform Meth Watch model, developed by CHPA in partnership with Kansas, includes access to a national web site and comprehensive resource materials. In addition, CHPA will provide states interested in the program with training videos and information on how to best implement the key components. Led by Kansas Methamphetamine Prevention Project Director Cristi Cain, this training session is designed to help states increase awareness about methamphetamine and assist local communities and law enforcement in addressing the meth problem in a productive and cooperative effort.
